Books like If I'd killed him when I met him -- by Sharyn McCrumb
Elizabeth MacPherson, a forensic anthropologist, is called to serve as the sole private investigator for her brother Bill’s nascent Virginia law firm. She quickly takes on two intricate cases:
The first centers on Eleanor Royden, a devoted lawyer’s wife who has killed her ex‑husband and his new wife in cold blood, while the second implicates Donna Jean Morgan in the death of her bible‑thumping, bigamist husband. Bill’s feminist partner, A. P. Hill, is fiercely committed to Eleanor, who claims she was an abused wife in denial, whereas Bill zealously defends Donna Jean.
Elizabeth’s forensic expertise—particularly her knowledge of poisons—leads her into the most challenging investigation of her career, pulling her deep into a web of crime, family ties, and hidden motives.
