Books like Cat's Eyewitness by Rita Mae Brown

Set in the misty hills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, the story follows a controversial miracle at the mountain monastery of Mount Carmel. When a statue of the Virgin Mary is said to cry blood, religious fervor swells and a death threatens to bring the town of Crozet into jeopardy. Mary “Harry” Haristeen and her friend Susan Tucker stay at the monastery, but their peace is shattered when a resident monk is found frozen dead. An autopsy reveals the coffin empty, prompting a search that brings the detective cats Mrs. Murphy and Pewter and their corgi partner Tee Tucker into the investigation. With Christmas looming and the town’s faithful swarming the site, Harry and her animal companions dig into a long‑standing mystery that could endanger everyone involved. Their loyalty and instincts prove essential as they chase clues and confront human nature’s darker sides.
