Books like Glass house by Chris Wiltz

When Thea Tamborella returns to New Orleans after a decade in the suburbs, she is confronted by a city she has outgrown: a place of deep contradictions, economic hardship, crime, and looming racial unrest. Thea inherits a Victorian mansion in the Garden District and reconnects with childhood friends, including Burgess Monroe, the son of her aunt’s housekeeper, whose mysterious past intrigues her. Simultaneously, old acquaintances from high school—Bobby Buchanan, Lyle and Sandy Hindermann—reappear, each strained by the city’s escalating violence. Lyle, a reserve policeman, becomes obsessed with law and order. While hunting a fellow officer’s killer, he follows a trail that leads to Dexter and his girlfriend, Sherree Morganza, a single mother and former stripper. Amid mistaken identities and brutal events, Thea wrestles with her own traumas, the murder of her parents, and her attraction to Burgess, ultimately confronting the true source of danger in her city and in her life.
