Books like After everything by Suellen Dainty

After everything follows a cast of middle‑aged characters who confront the surprises still lurking in their lives. Recently divorced Penny settles in a picturesque French town, where a chance meeting with a charismatic American philosophy professor threatens her solitude. On the other side of the globe, the handsome bachelor Peter experiences a first deep infatuation with the bold Frieda. Several other couples face their own trials—Tim and Angie in a childless, co‑dependent marriage and Jeremy, a twice‑divorced entrepreneur, battling addiction. At the story’s core is Sandy, Penny’s ex‑husband, a once‑acclaimed songwriter who realizes he has taken his wife and children for granted. A life‑altering close call prompts him to seek reconciliation with his kids, leading him from London to the bustling streets of an Indian hill town where they now live. As Sandy uncovers a long‑hidden tragedy, the novel explores the fragile yet enduring ties of friendship and family and the universal struggle to adapt in a changing world.
