Books like Skies of ash by Rachel Howzell Hall

Los Angeles homicide detective Elouise "Lou" Norton and partner Colin Taggert are called to the scene of a devastating house fire that killed Juliet Chatman and her two children. As Lou delves into the case, she discovers hidden debts, jealousy, and deceit that had eroded the Chatman family’s seemingly idyllic life. While Lou suspects that the grieving husband Christopher Chatman may have set the blaze, her personal turmoil—including the strain on her own marriage and doubts about her partner's faithfulness—clouds her investigation. With scant evidence and a looming serial arsonist called The Burning Man, Lou must decide whether to confront an external threat or confront the dark secrets that could destroy her. "Skies of Ash" follows Lou as she seeks justice amid the ashes, balancing the search for an arsonist with the risk of being consumed by the very flames she hunts.
