Books like The return of the witch by Paula Brackston

In The Return of the Witch, Paula Brackston continues the tale of Elizabeth, Gideon and the young witch Tegan. Five years after the dramatic night in Batchcombe woods, Gideon runs free in the Summerlands. Elizabeth suspects he will pursue Tegan, whom she has come to regard as her own daughter, and she must protect the girl. Tegan, who has travelled the world learning from many witches, has grown from an awkward teenager into a skilled spellcaster. Yet she is still no match for Gideon’s dark and vengeful power, who captures her. Elizabeth must try to rescue Tegan and the trio must confront their nemesis, weaving a story that moves through history and the supernatural. With a blend of gorgeous prose, an intriguing historical backdrop, and a headstrong heroine, the novel explores themes of love, magic, protection, and the struggle between good and evil in a fantasy‑historical world.
