Books like Too much money by Dominick Dunne

Gus Bailey, a seasoned Manhattan freelancer, is known for his ear for whispers and his reputation as a gossipologist. When he relays a fabricated tale about a powerful congressman on his own radio show, he lands a $11 million slander suit that threatens his career. The legal battle drains Gus, leaving him unable to concentrate on the novel he is contracted to write—a covert investigation into the suspicious death of billionaire Konstantin Zacharias. As the story circulates in the city's elite circles, Gus questions whether the convicted murderer was truly justly punished and wonders why the billionaire, typically shielded by bodies, was vulnerable on the night he died in a fire. Complicating matters is the billionaire’s hot‑tempered widow, Perla, who will go to any lengths to protect her social standing and suppress the story’s damaging implications. Gus must navigate Swifty’s, The Butterfield, and the Upper East Side’s moored mansions to expose the truth, all while facing the consequences of his own reputation in a world where secrets are currency.
