Books like Poisoned Love by Caitlin Rother

Kristin Rossum was a 24‑year‑old toxicology expert working at the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. In November 2000, her husband Greg de Villers was found unresponsive at their home. Kristin claimed he had overdosed on drugs after learning she was leaving him. Authorities, however, were skeptical of her story, noting Greg’s known aversion to drugs and the improbability of him taking his own life. Investigators discovered that supplies of methamphetamine and fentanyl were missing from the Medical Examiner's Office, and that Kristin had maintained an affair with her married boss at the time of Greg’s death. Over the course of the inquiry, her documented expertise in toxicology and her previously private illicit habits came to light, painting a complex portrait of the woman who had been watched by both colleagues and a hidden network of relationships. The case received national attention on shows such as Inside Edition, Good Morning America, and 48 Hours, and the ensuing courtroom drama highlighted questions about domestic abuse, mental health, and professional misconduct.
