Books like The bookshop of yesterdays by Amy Meyerson

Miranda Brooks has spent her life surrounded by books in her uncle Billy’s store, solving his clever scavenger hunts. On her twelfth birthday Billy withdraws, leaving her mother in a silent rift that lasts sixteen years. When Miranda is suddenly informed of Billy’s death and his bequest of Prospero Books, the treasured shop teeters on the brink of bankruptcy, and a last scavenger hunt lingers. Returning to Los Angeles as owner, Miranda dives into a trail of clues hidden in novels, locked drawers, and even the store’s name. She meets Billy’s former acquaintances, learns about a secret her mother guarded, and confronts the painful history that fractured her family. Through the journey, Miranda’s love of reading, the healing power of community, and her own identity are tested and ultimately affirmed. A lyrical debut that celebrates books, family bonds, and the promise of renewal, The Bookshop of Yesterdays unfolds as a story of inheritance, forgiveness, and the unseen threads tying strangers together.
