Books like Yesterday by Felicia Yap

In Felicia Yap’s debut, memory is the currency that separates the masses in a world where most people remember only one day (Monos) and the elite remember two (Duos). Claire, a devoted Mono housewife, and Mark, a rising politician and novelist with double memories, are a rare married couple that challenges this division. When a beautiful woman found dead in the River Cam is revealed as Mark’s mistress, he becomes the prime suspect. The detective assigned to the case harbors his own secrets, as does the victim. With each party’s memories continuously erased, the truth is perpetually reset, creating a tense game of pursuit and speculation. Told from four viewpoints—Mark, Claire, the detective, and the victim—Yesterday is a tightly plotted thriller that examines memory, identity, and social stratification.
