Books like Wild Man Island by Will Hobbs

On his final day of a sea‑kayaking trip, fourteen‑year‑old Andy Galloway paddles away from his group in Southeast Alaska to investigate a site tied to his archaeologist father’s disappearance. A sudden storm throws Andy’s kayak out to sea, leaving him stranded on Admiralty Island, a remote wilderness known as the Fortress of the Bears. Alone and at the mercy of the wilderness, Andy encounters a striking Newfoundland dog running alongside wolves and a lone man bearing a stone‑tipped spear. The man disappears into the forest, but the dog returns, leading Andy into a hidden cave filled with Stone Age tools and weapons. Facing danger, suspense, and discovery, Andy must navigate the cave’s mysteries to survive. This vivid tale blends adventure, survival, archaeology, and wilderness exploration, centering on the bond between a young kayaker and a fearless Newfoundland companion amid the rugged landscapes of Alaska.
