Books like Help! I'm Trapped in My Lunch Lady's Body by Todd Strasser

In Burp It Up Middle School, state‑of‑the‑art Vend‑A‑Lunch machines seem destined to replace the human touch of lunch staff. For Jake Sherman, Josh, and Andy, the new technology does more than change menus—it switches their bodies with three lunch ladies by mistake. Suddenly, the boys find themselves donning plastic gloves, hair nets, and a reality of serving unappetizing food to their classmates. With the mini‑DITS—an emergency separation system—rendered useless, the students must wade through cafeteria drama—both literally and figuratively—to recover their own bodies and restore order. As the body‑swap continues, the boys must adapt to the routines of school lunch service, confront the challenges of speaking through gloves, and appreciate the often overlooked work of cafeteria staff. Their adventure is a humorous, yet insightful look at school life and the often invisible labor that keeps a middle school running.
