Set in a high‑school environment, *Give a Boy a Gun* follows a student who keeps a journal and uses it to piece together the events of a disastrous school dance. Two students, armed with firearms and bombs, confront their peers, leaving the school in chaos. The narrator’s investigation reveals both the psychological motives behind the siege and the fragile dynamics of teenage life, as the story balances suspense with an exploration of fear, loyalty, and the lure of violence among adolescents. Through vivid scenes of confrontation, the novel examines the pervasive impact of school shootings on youth, underscoring the importance of understanding how access to firearms can alter a supposedly safe environment. By blending a journalistic perspective with a narrative in the juvenile fiction style, the book offers a raw, contemporary look at one of society’s most alarming phenomena.
