Lily Sanderson is a seventeenth‑year‑old with a secret: she is half‑human, half‑mermaid and the heir to the Thalassinian throne. After learning three years ago that her mother is human, Lily has left deep‑sea life behind and now attends Seaview High School, hoping to find her place on land. There she falls in love with the charismatic swimmer Brody Bennett, but mermaids are bound by a lifelong commitment once a bond is formed, turning her romantic hopes into a perilous dilemma. Lily’s struggle between two worlds is compounded by the meddlesome biker‑boy neighbor Quince Fletcher and a series of misunderstandings that threaten to expose her true nature. With humor, adventure, and a touch of fantasy, the novel follows Lily’s journey to reconcile her royal duty, her human friends, and the love that keeps her heart—and tail—from sinking.
