Books like Faithful Place by Tana French

In 1985, nineteen‑year‑old Frank Mackey left his cramped flat on Faithful Place with hopes of a new life in London with his girlfriend Rosie Daly. The night they were to depart, Rosie vanished, and Frank assumed she abandoned him for reasons tied to a dysfunctional family. He never returned home—and neither did Rosie. Twenty‑two years later, a suitcase bearing Rosie's name appears behind a fireplace in a derelict house on Faithful Place. Now a detective with Dublin’s undercover squad, Frank is forced to return to the streets he once fled. Faced with the town’s mistrust of police and the memory of complex family ties, he is compelled to investigate a missing‑person case that has resurfaced his past. Frank’s determination to learn what happened to Rosie Daly sparks tension with his colleagues, who fear his personal loyalties. He feels powerless as the community and his own history conspire against him, but he will go to any lengths—meant or unintended—to bring closure.
