Books like My foolish heart by Susan May Warren

Isadora Johnson runs a local radio talk show, offering heartfelt advice on love and relationships to listeners who trust her words – yet she has never been on a date herself. Living in a quiet town, she keeps her professional and private lives separate, until a handsome stranger moves in next door. As their proximity grows, Isadora must confront her own desires and the expectations of her community, testing the limits of her courage and the authenticity of the advice she gives. Beyond the romantic tension, the story touches on the challenges faced by women in media and the broader social fabric of a close-knit hometown. It also includes a subtle acknowledgment of the presence of disabled veterans in the community, offering a nuanced look at the diverse lives that intersect with Isadora’s path. Set against the backdrop of a small American town, the novel explores themes of longing, authenticity, and the complexities of balancing personal aspirations with public personas.
