Books like The house between tides by Sarah Maine

After the deaths of her last relatives, Hetty Deveraux abandons her troubled London marriage and retreats to her ancestral Scottish estate in the Outer Hebrides. Determined to renovate the dilapidated property into a hotel, she quickly discovers a human body hidden beneath a rotten floorboard in the basement, with no obvious clues to the victim’s identity. The mystery deepens as Hetty investigates the estate’s obscured history, learning of Beatrice Blake, a woman who lived there a hundred years ago, and her husband Theo, a celebrated painter. Rumors hint that Theo’s attention was drawn more to a local young man, Cameron, than to Beatrice, and that the woman’s disappearance has left a lingering shadow over the island. Hetty’s quest to uncover the truth reveals secret connections between the past and her own life, confronting long‑held family secrets and the strange legacy of the house. Her search forces her to confront the locals’ reluctance, the estate’s hidden past, and the personal cost of uncovering buried history.
