Books like The sirens sang of murder by Sarah L. Caudwell

Michael Cantrip, a promising young barrister, travels to the Channel Islands to manage a high‑stakes tax‑law case that hinges on locating a missing heir. Already entangled with his client’s secret‑keeping cronies, he finds himself on unfamiliar, isolated ground. Gradually, the island’s quiet atmosphere gives way to unsettling events: mysterious noises, and the disappearance of members of his legal team one by one. As the situation escalates, Cantrip reaches out for help from the Home Office. Enter Hilary Tamar, an Oxford don with a taste for sleuthing. Once an academic, Tamar has become an amateur investigator, and she is drawn into the case to protect Cantrip from harm. Together they must unravel legal puzzles and supernatural hints to bring the missing members back to safety and preserve the integrity of the disputed case.
