Books like The Sitter by Robert Lawrence Stine

Robert L. Stine’s *The Sitter* follows Ellie Saks as she leaves the city for a promised summer in the Hamptons. After taking a nanny position to finance her getaway, she meets Brandon, a four‑year‑old who refuses to speak and whose icy stare and strange laughter hint at deeper darkness. The once‑seemingly idyllic beach house soon turns into a nightmare as Ellie receives threatening notes and bizarre gifts. Suspicion falls on former lover Clay, Brandon’s unknown influences, and a haunting stranger from her childhood. Stine builds an atmosphere of suspense and horror, keeping readers on edge as Ellie must uncover the truth before it consumes her. Stine again harnesses his trademarkly unnerving style, blending everyday domestic life with an eerie, supernatural tension that escalates from a simple summer job to a life‑or‑death struggle against an unseen menace. Keywords and themes like family secrets, supernatural babysitting, and psychological terror combine to create a tense, supernatural thriller set on the coast.
