Books like Cosmic Trigger by Robert Anton Wilson

Cosmic Trigger II: Down to Earth, the second volume of Wilson’s autobiographical trilogy, was first published in 1991. It traces Wilson’s intellectual development from his Catholic schooling through materialist‑atheistic engineering studies to his eventual embrace of model agnosticism. The book frames contemporary events—such as the Gulf War and the rise of cyberspace—against a backdrop of conspiracies involving the Vatican, Freemasonry, and global power structures. Written with Wilson’s characteristic humor and interwoven koans, the volume contains ninety‑four short chapters that weave together themes of Jungian synchronicity, virtualization, and the social construction of reality. Themes recur throughout, including the influence of Ayn Rand, Trotskyism, and the paranormal aspects of Aleister Crowley’s magick, as well as the author’s observations on Irish jurisprudence, the Mafia, the CIA, and the Catholic Church. Wilson’s narrative culminates in a discussion of the model agnostic perspective and the symbolic Bridge that leads to deeper personal wisdom, while the dedication and many anti‑war quotations underscore his opposition to the makers of war.
