Books like Prometheus Rising by Robert Anton Wilson

Published in 1983, Prometheus Rising is a compact manual—under 300 pages—describing how the human brain functions and how readers can better harness their mental faculties. Drawing on Timothy Leary’s eight‑circuit model, Gurdjieff’s self‑observation exercises, Alfred Korzybski’s general semantics, and other psychological, philosophical, and holistic approaches, Wilson presents a framework for expanding consciousness. The book addresses social mind control, mental imprinting, and the effects of psychoactive substances while offering practical mind exercises at the end of each chapter to promote greater self‑control. Originally a Ph.D. dissertation titled *The Evolution of Neuro‑Sociological Circuits: A Contribution to the Sociobiology of Consciousness*, the manuscript was revised and released through New Falcon Publications after Wilson’s research at Paideia University.
