Books like Ghostwalk by Rebecca Stott

When Cambridge historian Elizabeth Vogelsang is found drowned clutching a glass prism, her unfinished study of Isaac Newton’s alchemical experiments threatens to unleash dangerous truths. Her son, Cameron, hires former lover Lydia Brooke to complete the book. Lydia moves into the orchard house where Eleanor’s work was written and soon learns that the violence now plaguing Cambridge may stem directly from the evidence her mother uncovered. As murders unfold, Lydia is drawn into a conspiracy that revives the ghosts of the past, forcing her to confront the thin line between the 17th‑century scientific world and the present. Ghostwalk blends scholarly research with atmospheric prose, weaving Cambridge’s historic streets and the enigmatic life of a 19th‑century researcher into a tense mystery that invites readers to consider how history can shape modern danger.
