Books like Five green and speckled frogs by Priscilla Burris

In this gentle picture book, five green and speckled frogs gather on a log to eat bugs. Their appetites are satisfied, but curiosity beckons them to the nearby cool pool. One by one, they jump into the water, leaving the log empty and the pool sparkling with their playful splash. The story follows their simple, rhythmic journey from log to pond, inviting young readers to observe the natural cycle of feeding and aquatic fun. The narrative celebrates nature and the simple pleasures of counting children’s favourite creatures, making it an easy read for early learners. With clear illustrations and rhythmic text, the book helps children recognize numbers, observe the frogs’ actions, and enjoy the soothing imagery of insects and water. Whether read aloud or explored independently, the book encourages calm observation, counting practice, and a love for the natural world, all set in a child-friendly, frog-filled scene.
