Books like The corridors of time by Poul Anderson

The corridors of time follows Malcolm Lockridge, a 20th‑century former marine and college student, who is recruited by Storm Daraway, a commander of the Wardens who control the Eastern Hemisphere. Storm persuades Malcolm to help recover a long‑lost trove of Ukrainian freedom‑fighter gold, embarking him on a perilous journey to Neolithic Denmark. There he is introduced to the broader conflict spanning all of time between the Wardens and the Rangers. As Storm’s ally—and lover—Malcolm witnesses the Rangers’ leader, Brann, launch an attack on a peaceful village, leading to Storm’s capture and brutal interrogation. After escaping, Malcolm utilises a local Time Corridor to navigate Reformation‑era Europe in search of a contact promised to await each All Hallow’s Eve at an inn in Viborg. This guide will lead him to Storm’s cohort who plan a daring rescue with 16th‑century English warriors. Throughout, Malcolm must decide whether his allegiance is justified and whether any side truly holds the moral high ground, all while recognizing his pivotal role in shaping the future of his own century.
