Books like All the colors of darkness by Peter Robinson

When a man is discovered hanging from a tree in the woods outside Eastvale, Police Inspector Annie Cabbot initially believes the case is a suicide. He is later identified as Mark Hardcastle, a well‑liked set and costume designer for a local amateur theatre group. The investigation takes a darker turn when Hardcastle’s wealthy lover is later found bludgeoned to death in his home. Suspicion shifts and Annie summons Chief Inspector Alan Banks, who has just returned from holiday and has a new girlfriend. Banks soon realizes that nothing is as it seems, as Pride, jealousy, envy, ambition, greed, lust, revenge and other dark motives abound—both within Hardcastle’s production of “Othello” and in his personal relationships. Together, the pair must untangle the truth behind the deaths and protect a community that hides more than it shows.
