Eight years after the fateful loss of the USS Grissom, former first officer Mackenzie Calhoun returns to the Captain’s Table—a raucous tavern where stars’ leaders convene for drink and debate. The tavern is a unique meeting place throughout interplanetary space, where sailors of all eras can share stories. Everyone knows the first round of drinks is paid for with a legend—even in Thallonian space. Calhoun’s tale is one of tragedy, betrayal, and redemption. After a court-martial culminated in his resignation from the Starfleet, he vowed never to speak of the incident again. In this short, Star Trek adventure, the former officer reveals the truth behind the calamity that ruined his ship and career while sharing a drink at the Captain’s Table with his fellow veterans. The story flashes back to the USS Grissom’s fateful maiden voyage, the unexpected collision, and the inner turmoil that drove Calhoun to a quiet era of exile and disillusionment before he returned to the galactic community. Whether it is a story of triumph, mis‑management, supernatural interference, or a simple tragic accident, the Captain’s Table is where Calhoun’s past and present collide, forever changing the way the future of the Starship Excalibur will sail.
