Books like Who was Lewis Carroll? by Pam Pollack

This biography presents Charles L. Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll, the Oxford mathematician and church deacon whose intellect shaped the enduring classics *Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland* and *Through the Looking‑Glass*. It traces his life, from his teaching career to the inspiration he found in Alice Liddell—a Dean’s daughter—whose name and presence guided the creation of the beloved Alice stories. The book discusses Carroll’s clever use of nonsense verse, exemplified in poems such as "Jabberwocky" and "The Hunting of the Snark," and notes how these works, first published in Victorian England during the 1860s and 1870s, have captivated both children and adults through subsequent adaptations in plays and film.
