Books like Tail of the blue bird by Nii Ayikwei Parkes

When a minister’s girlfriend arrives in Sonokrom, her curiosity sets off a chain of events that unsettles the village. The discovery of a dead body in Kofi Atta’s deserted hut leads detective hunter Opanyin Poku into an investigation that draws the attention of a demanding inspector. The case requires the expertise of Kayo, a young forensic pathologist, who teams up with Constable Garba. Kayo must navigate local customs and gain the trust of a village medicine man while gathering scientific evidence. Strange elements appear—a blue bird feather on the burned remains, unsettling oddities that challenge conventional forensic methods. Through Kayo’s eyes the novel explores how stories shape reality, blending modern investigative techniques with ancient Ghanaian folklore and supernatural lore to reveal the deeper significance of truth and narrative in everyday life.
