Books like Seveneves by Neal Stephenson

After a sudden, violent event makes Earth uninhabitable, scientists, politicians, and civilians across the globe unite to execute a monumental plan to preserve humanity beyond the planet’s atmosphere. The expedition faces cruel environmental hazards, logistical hurdles, and unpredictable human conflict. Despite setbacks, a group of pioneers succeeds and establishes an interstellar colony. Five thousand years on, the lineage of those first survivors has multiplied into seven distinct societies, numbering three billion. With limited steam‑engine technology and dwindling resources, these descendants set out on a second bold voyage. Their destination is a mere satellite of Earth—a moon that has been reshaped by cataclysmic changes—and whose beauty belies its deadly secrets. The story follows their trials and the moral questions that arise when creating a new civilization in the cosmos.
