Books like R.S.V.P. murder by Mignon Good Eberhart

Frances Hilliard mourns the passing of her father, a once-renowned criminal lawyer whose reputation was built on sharp wit and cunning tactics. In the wake of his death, she learns that he attempted to secure her financial future by exploiting the intimate knowledge he accumulated on former clients, blackmailing them for profit. The crux of this inheritance lies in a missing diary that contains proof of these illicit dealings. One of those she blackmailed has insisted that the diary, which—according to her father's final act—should still be in Frances’ possession, must never be exposed. With only five letters mailed just before his death, she faces a chilling question: which one was directed to a murderer? Set against the backdrop of a blizzard‑enshrouded winter, the novel blends themes of family loyalty, inherited crime, and the moral complexity of justice. Frances must navigate her father's shadowy past, the rich elites he once swayed, and the perilously close threat of retribution. The story is a classic mystery that examines the fine line between redemption and revenge, and a keen undercurrent of how wealth can corrupt even the most trusted relationships.
