Books like The seeker by Melinda Metz

In a small New Mexico boarding‑school setting, Michael, an alien arriving from the stars, forms a forbidden bond with Marie, a junior who discovers she possesses psychic gifts. Their secret love threatens to tear apart not only their safe, everyday lives but also the fragile boundaries that separate Earth from the cosmos. As they navigate adolescence, school drama and the supernatural, the two must decide whether the risks of their unique connection are worth the cost to their safety, future, and the societies that might otherwise deny them. The novel blends high‑school dynamics with science‑fiction spectacle, exploring what it means to love across worlds while confronting the challenges of growing up, friendship, and the urge to break free from ordinary life. Themes of destiny, individuality and the tension between human and alien are woven through a coming‑of‑age narrative set against the backdrop of an imagined New Mexico high school, keeping readers engaged in a story that celebrates both teenage heartache and cosmic wonder.
