This academic work offers a comprehensive analysis of Robin Cook, the renowned American author dubbed the "Master of the Medical Thriller." It explores how Cook’s novels, from *Coma* to *Contagion*, address social issues such as environmental pollution, gender inequality in the workplace, and the dangers of secrecy in scientific research. The study examines Cook’s use of plotting conventions drawn from science fiction, murder mystery, and gothic romance, providing detailed discussions of plot, character, and theme in each work. A biographical chapter introduces Cook’s background, and an alternative critical approach offers readers new lenses for interpreting his fiction. The book concludes with a bibliography of Cook’s fiction, related criticism, biographical sources, and review listings, making it a valuable resource for educators and libraries.
