Books like Evidence of murder by Lisa Black

Forensic investigator Theresa MacLean, a former forensic scientist, is drawn back into the world of crime after the tragic loss of her fiancé. In this second novel of a new series by Lisa Black, MacLean faces her toughest case yet: the death of Jillian Perry, a young mother found in a forest with no visible injuries and an autopsy that yields no clear cause of death. The police conclude that Jillian simply fell victim to the harsh winter, but MacLean senses something deeper. When Jillian's ex-boyfriend petitions for custody of her daughter and raises doubts about foul play, MacLean must piece together evidence that seems to vanish. With a child's life hanging in the balance, MacLean’s expertise and determination are put to the ultimate test as she searches for the truth behind a murder that refuses to leave a trail. True to Black’s reputation for authenticity, the novel blends forensic detail with suspenseful storytelling, offering readers a gripping look at the pursuit of justice in the face of hidden clues.
