Books like The Burglar in the Library by Lawrence Block

Bookseller and New‑York native Bernie Rhodenbarr rarely leaves Manhattan, but a romantic getaway to the Cuttleford House—a remote up‑state bed‑and‑breakfast—draws him out of his comfort zone. Intended as a break for himself and his girlfriend Lettice, the trip is derailed when Lettice discovers she is about to marry someone else. Undeterred, Bernie invites his close friend Carolyn to the inn instead. While enjoying the tranquility, Bernie learns of a priceless first‑edition book tucked in the inn’s library, setting his sights on a heist. But the calm threatens to crumble when a dead body emerges from the library’s floor amid a blizzard that snuffs out phone lines. With Lettice’s jealous husband arriving unexpectedly and more bodies piling up, Bernie is forced to step into detective mode to uncover the murderer, or risk becoming one himself.
