Books like Bukowski in a sundress by Kim Addonizio

In "Bukowski in a Sundress," award‑winning poet and novelist Kim Addonizio turns her memory into a collection of sharp, candid essays. She reflects on the pleasures and frustrations of being a writer— from the sparks of inspiration at her desk or on the road, to the more outrageous moments of her life, including a one‑night stand at a writing conference and the humor of sparsely attended readings in the Midwest. Addonizio’s voice is unflinching and humorous, bringing readers into scenes like "What Writers Do All Day," "How to Fall for a Younger Man," and "Necrophilia," while also revealing the personal side of her life. She examines her relationships with her father, a poet‑inspiring figure; her mother, a former tennis champion battling Parkinson’s; and her daughter, who discovers Addonizio’s old erotica at a young age. The book offers a mix of wit, heartbreak and gritty realism that fans of her work will recognize and new readers will find unforgettable.
