Books like Scattered Suns by Kevin J. Anderson

The Kingdom of Ildir is fracturing under the strain of war with the alien hydrogues and faeros, destroying suns and threatening the continuity of the Ildiran Empire. Newly crowned Mage‑Imperator Jora’h battles a rebellion sparked by his brother, while the Ildiran factions struggle to unite. Humanity meanwhile is beset by turmoil of the Hansa fighting machines, the mysterious Klikiss robots, and disdain for the free‑spirited Roamers. Against this backdrop, Jess Tamblyn continues to spread the watery wentals, the mortal enemies of the hydrogues. Telepathic forces on the planet Theroc, home to a worldforest, are activated by the resurrection of a dead man, preparing humanity for new allies. In the end, the soldiers, the Ildirans, and the abducted humans must confront their deepest fears and choose whether to banish or be annihilated by the hydrogues.
