Three and a half years after leaving her traumatic past, former Grant County medical examiner Sara Linton moves to Atlanta and begins a new life as a doctor at Grady Hospital. A severely wounded young woman arrives in the emergency department, naked and brutalized, pointing to a violent crime. The arrival draws Special Agent Will Trent of the Criminal Investigation Team to the scene, where he discovers a hidden torture chamber buried deep beneath the earth. The chamber reveals that Sara’s patient is merely the first victim of a sadistic serial killer. Determined to stop the murderer, Will and his partner Faith Mitchell take the case beyond the local police chief, while Sara’s own past and the secrets she keeps become crucial to the hunt. The trio—each carrying their own wounds—must confront a madman before he can claim another victim.
