Books like Head in the clouds by Karen Witemeyer

Adelaide Proctor, a California socialite yearning for a storybook romance, faces humiliation when a husband‑hunting misstep leaves her discredited. Seeking a fresh start, she applies for a governess role on Gideon Wescott’s remote Texas sheep ranch. Gideon, an Englishman who abandoned a privileged life to build a career in America’s wool industry, suddenly finds himself responsible for five‑year‑old Isabella, a quiet child who has never spoken since her mother’s death. Adelaide’s unconventional approach to caregiving intrigues Gideon, yet he must balance duty with ambition. When Isabella’s wealthy uncle arrives to claim the girl and her inheritance, Adelaide and Gideon unite to thwart his nefarious plans, discovering a deepening attraction between them. Will Adelaide finally let go of her idle daydreams and commit her heart?
