Books like Home for the haunting by Juliet Blackwell

Mel Turner, a seasoned contractor in San Francisco, spearheads a volunteer effort to renovate an abandoned home. While expecting many questions from her inexperienced crew, she finds herself intrigued by the neighboring Murder House—an infamous, supposedly haunted location that local kids warn about. During the renovation, the volunteers stumble upon a body in a shed, and the mystery deepens as Mel begins to notice supernatural activity emanating from the Murder House. She wonders whether the house’s ghosts are reaching out for assistance or if the structure has claimed another victim. Set against the backdrop of a bustling city and the intricacies of remodeling, the story blends elements of crime, horror, and the investigative spirit of women detectives while exploring themes of community effort, grief, and the lingering presence of the past.
