Books like Kansas City secrets by Julie Miller

When Rosie March’s fiancé is murdered six years ago, the city’s Cold Case Squad tracks the crime, but the investigation never ends. Now a new stalker appears, intent on silencing her memories of the murder. Detective Max Krolikowski, Rosie's assigned protector, must keep her alive for the truth she might be hiding while contending with his own acute PTSD stemming from his time as an ex-soldier. Max is unsure whether Rosie is a vulnerable survivor or the killer who could strike again. Claude Krolikowski’s duty to protect her and his agency requires him to navigate dangerous territory, juggling both investigative duties and personal secrets in the heart of Kansas City. In a tense blend of romance, suspense, and crime, the novel centers on complex man‑woman relationships as Max Krolikowski struggles to protect a woman and himself while confronting the shadows of war and the looming threat of a stalker.
