Books like What should be wild by Julia Fine

Maisie Cothay has never known the feel of human flesh. Born with the ability to kill or resurrect at her slightest touch, she has spent her childhood secluded in her family's manor on the edge of a mysterious forest. Her father, an anthropologist who treats her more as an experiment than a daughter, warns her never to venture into the woods. Locals whisper of men who disappear in the forest, emerging with addled minds and strange tales. What her father fails to disclose is that for centuries her female ancestors vanished into the wood and never returned, marking her as a descendant of cursed women. When her father disappears, Maisie must leave the walls of her carefully constructed life and search for him. Far from home and the forest for the first time, she encounters a strange world of wonder and deception. Yet the deeper she stray, the more the wood calls her home. Only there can she finally reckon with her power and understand the wildest parts of herself.
