Books like Promises to keep by Joseph R Biden

In *Promises to Keep*, former United States senator Joe Biden offers an intimate account of his life and career. He reflects on pivotal national events—Vietnam, Watergate, the fall of the Berlin Wall, 9/11, presidential impeachments, and Supreme Court‑decided elections—while sharing personal stories from his upbringing in Scranton and Wilmington, his battle with a stutter, the tragic loss of his first wife and daughter, and his resilience through two aneurysms. Biden explains how principles of family, faith, honesty, and perseverance guided his work in the Senate, his leadership on key committees, and his efforts to shape legislation on domestic violence, judicial appointments, and international crises. The book presents a candid, hopeful portrait of a public servant who refuses to be cynical about the promise of American democracy.
