📘 Rescuing the Bible from fundamentalism by John Shelby Spong

In "Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism," John Shelby Spong critiques long‑standing Catholic and Protestant doctrines—such as celibacy, marital exclusivity, the exclusion of homosexuals, the pronouncement of divorce, and patriarchal church leadership—and advocates for a modern, scripture‑informed pastoral response. He calls for inclusive teaching that supports equal, loving, and non‑exploitative relationships and considers the consecration of women as bishops, aiming to align church moral standards with contemporary realities.
