Books like Apple Turnover Murder by Joanne Fluke

Hannah Swensen owns a small bakery in the lakeside town of Lake Eden. When Mayor Bascomb’s wife orders 1,100 cookies for a community fundraiser, Hannah, who has never made an apple turnover, partners with her business partner Lisa to produce the pastries. The event also features a magician's talent show in which Hannah acts as a magician’s assistant. While the fundraiser is in progress, the show’s host, community‑college professor Bradford Ramsey, is discovered dead behind the curtain, a turnover in his hand. Hannah and her sister Michelle, both of whom have had run‑in romantic relationships with Ramsey, must unravel a mystery involving ex‑wives, jealous spouses, and local power players to uncover who killed the professor. Facing pressure to protect her reputation and that of her sister, Hannah navigates a small‑town atmosphere of gossip, secrets and pastry‑filled tension—ultimately piecing together why the dead professor was snuffed out in a puffless, dangerous way.
