Books like Artemis invaded by Jane M. Lindskold

When archaeologist Griffin stumbles upon the long-lost pleasure planet Artemis, he is driven by the promise that its hidden technology could grant humanity unprecedented power. With a gene‑modified companion, the huntress Adara, and her psyche‑linked puma, Sand Shadow, he navigates the planet’s dangers in hopes of contacting his orbiting ship. Adara’s growing feelings for Griffin and the deepening bond between her, Sand Shadow, and Artemis itself set the stage for unforeseen consequences. Though focused on his mission, Griffin cannot yet see how his arrival will ripple across the people he left behind and the fragile equilibrium of Artemis. The novel explores themes of discovery, loyalty, and the perilous intersection of ancient secrets with modern ambition as the planet faces an imminent invasion, thrusting Griffin and his allies into a conflict that reaches beyond their immediate goal.
