Books like The burning by Jane Casey

In the heart of London, four young women have been brutally murdered and their bodies set aflame in secluded parks. The media dubs the killer "The Burning Man," and the local police are racing against time to stop a likely serial killer. Maeve Kerrigan, an ambitious and empathetic detective constable, is thrust onto the murder task force in hopes of proving herself. While her male colleagues question her judgment, Maeve is driven by a fierce determination to uncover the truth. Investigating the latest victim, Rebecca Haworth, and piecing evidence that has literally gone up in smoke, Maeve must confront a killer who remains unseen. As the investigation unfolds, Maeve wrestles with the pressure of high media scrutiny, the skepticism of her peers, and the psychological toll of chasing a murderer who leaves nothing but charred footprints. Her resolve is tested when clues vanish, but her empathy fuels a relentless pursuit of justice for the young women whose lives were extinguished.
