When Dorinda Manson tries to protect her daughter Leonie from marrying a doctor, she inadvertently gives counsel that ends up steering Leonie toward Robbie Brydene, the town’s veterinarian. Despite Dorinda’s bemused warnings, Leonie falls in love with Robbie, and their life together seems idyllic. As complications arise, Leonie discovers that her mother’s generous financial help—mistakenly intended as support—has inadvertently strained their marriage.
