Books like Genesis code by Jamie Frederic Metzl

Blue Magic, a new designer drug blamed for rising overdoses, may explain the needle mark on the arm of MaryLee Stock, a young woman found dead in her Kansas City apartment. Reporter Rich Azadian digs deeper, unraveling a web that connects Stock to evangelical megaboss Cobalt Becker, who is poised to hand his followers and the presidency to a firebrand right-wing senator in the next election. As Azadian discovers that MaryLee's death was not accidental and may involve Becker’s genetically enhanced baby, the stakes rise to life and death. In a 2023 America strained by economic turmoil, cultural conflict, and geopolitical tension with China, the investigation is further complicated by dying bodies, looming Chinese agents, and a federal department threatening to shut down his probes. Forced to go rogue, Azadian assembles a team of unusual allies to uncover who is killing these women and why, and to determine if any survivors remain.
