Books like JFK and the unspeakable by James W. Douglass

In *JFK and the Unspeakable*, James W. Douglass presents a detailed account of the forces that drove President John F. Kennedy from a hard‑line Cold Warrior to a champion of peace. Tracing Kennedy’s decisions from the 1961 Bay of Pigs fiasco through the Cuban Missile Crisis and covert negotiations with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, the book shows how these moves alienated elements of the U.S. military‑intelligence establishment, who ultimately deemed him a traitor. Douglass contends that the assassination was not merely a personal act but an attempt to halt Kennedy’s vision of a safer world. The work claims that uncovering this “unspeakable” truth is essential for safeguarding future peace and national security. The narrative pulls from recent primary sources and offers a critical view of the Cold War era, the Vietnam conflict, and the political dynamics within the United States government during the early 1960s.
