Books like Warrior woman by James Alexander Thom

Nonhelema, a towering and literate Shawnee Women’s Peace Chief, rose to prominence as a peacemaker in 1774 when more than three thousand Virginians prepared to invade Shawnee lands. After her pleas for peace were denied, she transformed into a warrior, riding into battle clad in war paint. When ammunition ran low, she returned to her role as a peacemaker, negotiating armistices with figures of the American Revolution such as Daniel Boone and George Rogers Clark. These negotiations strained her relationship with her own people and left her vulnerable to betrayal by white adversaries, culminating in the murder of loved ones and her own maiming. Throughout her life, Nonhelema forged complex relationships—from her daughter Fani, an adopted white captive, to missionary Zeisberger and a variety of lovers—while inspiring a soldier named Justin Case to find courage. The novel portrays a woman whose resolve to prevent war turns into a relentless fight for survival amid war, personal loss, and the relentless pressures of her era.
